Text

LYNDON B. JOHNSON
TEXAS
United States Senate
Office of Democratic Leader
Washington, D.C

August 12, 1958

Dear Mrs. Hall:
I have read with interest your letter of August 6th and the indicted story in the accompanying tearsheet from the Times Herald.
I agree that wisdom calls for Democrats not to fight among themselves but to concentrate on affirmative support of the principles of our party. Of course it is hardly necessary for me to state that I had nothing whatever to do with anything that happened at the Dallas County Convention, and I am not aware that I have ever extended support to “reactionary fanatics.”
(Handwritten to the right of the above paragraph, pointing towards the last sentence) Lie!
Sincerely,
[Handwritten] Lyndon B. Johnson.
Lyndon B. Johnson

Mrs. Cordye Hall
