Artist statement:
The primary purpose of the piece is to depict the one in six stroke statistics. The silhouette in the back is supposed to be representative of how the images of an angiogram. also within the composition a dividing line between him and the others; to signify how lonely the condition can leave people.Medical description:
Cerebrovascular accidents are either ischemic or hemorrhagic. Ischemic strokes, more common, occur from clots or arterial narrowing, while hemorrhagic strokes, though rarer and deadlier, result from bleeding due to ruptured vessels, increasing brain pressure and damage. Symptoms can include unilateral hemiplegia/hemiparesis, confusion, slurred speech, aphasia, blurred/double vision, difficulty maintaining balance and coordination, severe headaches, dizziness, vomiting. A patient's response after a stroke can include paralysis on one side of the body or both, trouble thinking, trouble with awareness, trouble with learning, judgment and/or controlling emotions. Response can also include depression, dysphagia, dysphasia and/or numbness sensation. Education should include the possible complications, difficulties with activities of daily living, and the necessary changes the patient should make to ensure a safe and accessible environment. (Camicia et al., 2021). Additionally, education should be provided regarding their medication regimen, lifestyle changes and moderations to prevent another stroke. (Tadi et al., 2023) Lastly, the nurse should provide guidance on therapy, rehabilitation, and support groups.Creator
